Founded by Karl Pärtel and Rain Randsberg in Estonia in 2021, RAIKU is a cleantech company producing sustainable alternatives to plastic and paper based filler packaging with 100% natural, fully compostable materials.
After identifying a direct need and gap in the market to provide a low carbon and fully natural packaging material, RAIKU developed an innovative technology which transforms responsibly sourced wood into coiled springs without the use of chemicals or additives. The process reduces water consumption by 99.9%, energy use by 95%, and wood use by 90% compared to other paper production processes. The process uses minimal turning 1m3 of wood into 203 of packaging. It uses modular production units that can be set up in any warehouse, making expansion flexible and cost-effective.
This technology supports circular economy principles by using renewable, low carbon, compostable materials and reducing waste. Since only 65% of packaging in Europe is recycled, RAIKU's offers a welcome solution.
By partnering with forward-thinking brands, RAIKU is driving industry-wide adoption of low-impact packaging solutions, contributing to the reduction of plastic use.
RAIKU founders, Karl Pärtel said, “Joining L’AcceleratOR is a pivotal opportunity for RAIKU because beauty is one of the fastest-growing segments where sustainability and design excellence go hand in hand. The program enables us to advance our 100% wood material and demonstrate how to reconcile sustainability, aesthetics and performance.”
