Auressens, based in Paris, France, was born from serendipity when co-founders Grégory Dupeyre and Dr. Laurélie Poulard isolated an organic pigment in the laboratory, producing striking golden crystals that shimmered like metal—without containing a single trace of metal.

Recognizing the immense potential to rethink how metallic finishes are created, Dr. Laurélie Poulard (PhD chemist with extensive expertise in advanced optical materials) and Grégory Dupeyre (deeptech entrepreneur) united their scientific and entrepreneurial backgrounds to found Auressens in 2020. Their goal: create low-carbon metallic effects without the use of metals.

Auressens’ flagship innovation is Alchimie 2.0®, a patented coating technology that creates premium metallic effects—from glossy finishes to mirror-like reflections—using engineered bio-based organic pigments that interact uniquely with light. Applied via standard coating processes on materials such as glass and plastics without adding a metal layer, Alchimie 2.0® can seamlessly integrate into existing production lines.

For the beauty industry, this can solve a major design dilemma: how to preserve the premium aesthetic consumers expect while ensuring packaging remains fully compatible with circular recycling streams.
